"An organization is either steered by active Knowledge Management or it has no steering at all."

Usually Knowledge Management is associated with collecting, storing, classification of information for management reports.

RIS - Relevant Information Services concentrates on the analysis of information and its use in processes for the goals of the organization. For this purpose the content of information is analyzed to find different meanings that can have value for the processes and goals.

An information content gains meaning from the relation to models used to create the information and it’s purpose for goals and processes. RIS offers a collection of models from different fields of knowledge as basis for analyzing information (see method) to get a clear picture of the possible contribution of content to the goals of the organization.

Advantage: Goal is to align the flow of information with the processes delivering the wanted results with the optimal use of the means and skills available for the organization.
